Alzheimer Café at Atwater Library Starts Tomorrow Afternoon
A café is an informal and inclusive setting. An Alzheimer Café is a meeting space for all members of the community, including those living with memory loss, their relatives and caregivers. Dutch Psychologist Dr. Bère Miesen initiated the Alzheimer Café in 1997 and the model has been successfully emulated throughout western Europe. Canada's first Alzeimer Café started in Nova Scotia last year. The Atwater Library is partnering with the Montreal Alzheimer Society to start an Alzheimer Café for Montrealers in the Library's elegant Reading Room. We will be giving talks, distributing information but most importantly enjoying each other’s company. Here are the times of the first three sessions:
- TOMORROW (TUESDAY, September 18) from 1:00 to 3:00 pm - This is the week of World Alzheimer Day for which the theme is "Dementia: Living Together".
- TUESDAY, October 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
- TUESDAY, November 20 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
